10th anniversary of the Indian Ocean Tsunami: a few pictures from Tamil Nadu, India

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the  destructive tsunami that killed more than 227,000 people in fourteen different countries. It is one of the deadliest natural disasters ever recorded . Caused by a 9.1 earthquake that struck beneath the Indian Ocean near Indonesia, seashores as far as Tamil Nadu, in South India, were hit. More than 12,400 Indian -mainly on the Tamil Nadu coast- lost their life, and thousands of building and fishing vessels were destroyed.

During the winter of 2013, I had the chance to visit that region and among the many pictures I took there, a few ones from Mamallapuram, are directly related to the tsunami. Here are they:
