The Cherry season has started
Cherries have always been one of my favorite fruits. I remember when, as a child, we used to pick them from the trees in Ebringen, Germany, as well as in Aix-en-Provence in France. Another association that comes to my mind about Cherry is related to its English pronunciation and a trip to Andalusia in Spain in 1994. I was visiting the magnificient city of Cadiz and Jerez de la Frontera, when I learned that their famous wine, the “Sherry” (protected designation of origin) was an anglicisation of the spanish name of Jerez or Xeres. Wild cherries and a fresh glass of Sherry, that’s the perfect combination for the aperitive this time of the year! Cheers!
